November 1, 2006 - For six consecutive years IGN and THQ have teamed up to bring our readers an ongoing exclusive look at the superstars of the WWE, and this season is no exception. Famous the world over, our "SmackDown Countdown" chronicles each wrestler, diva, and legend that will appear in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007, and comes complete with never-before-seen screenshots and direct-feed movies of every last one of them. Every day for the next nine weeks, we'll profile more than 60 different personalities (including two each on Mondays and Fridays as a special homage to Raw and SmackDown fans), and for the first time ever, will cover two different platforms with images and video from both the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 versions. Hot stuff? You bet.
But enough with the formalities it's time to throw down with today's Countdown superstar, Eddie Guerrero!

One of the most gifted, successful and well-traveled WWE Superstars in the SmackDown history, Eddie Guerrero was also one of the most conflicted and tortured souls to ever step foot in a WWE ring. With wrestling running through his bloodlines on both sides of his family dating back to his father -- the legendary Gory Guerrero, Eddie had been consumed and obsessed by the sports entertainment business since he was a child and first began training in a El Paso wrestling ring in his parents' backyard where he was instilled with the mentality of being the best he could be and having a passion to be numero uno. It is this passion that led to Eddie winning the WWE Championship.
Sadly, Eddie Guerrero lost his life last year when he passed away of heart disease. The hole that his departure left in the WWE still lingers to this day.
