WWE Saturday Night's Main Event Results - 7/15/06

- Hulk Hogan's music hit to kick off the show. Hogan came out along with his daughter Brooke. Brooke got on the mic and mentioned it was always a dream of hers to be in the ring with her dad. She says she hopes her career will be just as successful as her dad's. Hogan took the mic and said Hulkamania is still running wild since 1985 when Randy Orton's music hit. Orton came out with a rose in hand. He gave Brooke the rose on "behalf" of the Hulkamaniacs and that he couldn't just sit in the back when one of the biggest legends was in the ring. Orton mentions that he is a Legend Killer however and then respectfully challenges Hogan to a match at SummerSlam. Hogan accepts and both shake hands.

- World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio, Batista & Bobby Lashley defeated King Booker, WWE U.S. Champion Finlay & Mark Henry in a Six Man Tag Team Match. The finish saw Mysterio hit the 619 on King Booker and Batista hit the Batista Bomb on Booker for the pinfall.

- Backstage, Vince McMahon was giving The Spirit Squad a pep talk about their 5 on 2 Elimination Match against D-Generation X. The screen then splits in half and Triple H and Shawn Michaels appears. They turn down the audio on Vince and The Spirit Squad and DX narrates on behalf of Vince. Triple H, as Vince, says he wants The Spirit Squad to strip off his clothes and spank his bottom until it gets red. The audio comes back at the last second with Vince saying they will never be embarassed by DX again.

- Carlito & Trish Stratus defeated WWE Intercontinental Champion Johnny Nitro & Melina. The finish saw Carlito hit the backcracker on Nitro for the pinfall.

- Footage was shown earlier of Kevin Von Erich appearing in front of the crowd in Dallas.

- D-Generation X (Triple H & Shawn Michaels) defeated The Spirit Squad in a 5 on 2 Elimination Match. Mitch was eliminated first, Johnny was eliminated second, Nicky was eliminated third, Mikey was eliminated fourth and Kenny was eliminated fifth to give DX the win. Two small steel cages were setup outside of the ring and whoever was eliminated was forced to go inside. With all Spirit Squad members inside, Vince McMahon tried to let them out, but HBK gave McMahon some Sweet Chin Music and Vince fell into the cage with The Spirit Squad. The segment ended with Triple H and Shawn Michaels standing on top of the cage celebrating with the fans in Dallas.

- The Great Khali was shown in the ring with Daivari. Daivari talked about Khali's match with The Undertaker at The Great American Bash PPV next Sunday when The Big Show's music hit. Big Show came out with the ECW Title over his shoulder along with Paul Heyman. Big Show took the mic and called Khali a big boy. He put himself over as the first ever man to hold the WCW, WWE and ECW World Titles. Big Show said his purpose tonight was to put over Khali for how bad he beat The Undertaker. The gong hits and the lights go out. The Undertaker comes out and goes after Khali. Undertaker clotheslines Khali over the top rope. Big Show backs off looking to leave when he attacks Undertaker. It finishes with Big Show and Khali giving Undertaker a double chokeslam in the middle of the ring.

- Backstage, Big Show challenges The Undertaker to an ECW Championship Match on ECW next Tuesday on Sci Fi (airing one hour later at 11pm ET/10pm CT).

- Sabu defeated Stevie Richards in an ECW Rules Match. The finish saw Sabu put Richards over a table and smash a steel chair over his head to get the pinfall.

- Backstage, a shot of Randy Orton speaking with Brooke Hogan is shown. Joey Styles of all people introduces her new music video. When we come back, Hogan walks up, slaps Randy on the back and says he will see him at SummerSlam. Orton replies with, "Yes sir." Hogan opens the door to a car for Brooke and goes to walk to the other side when Orton grabs Hogan and hits him with an RKO over the trunk. Hogan fell to the ground and Orton leaned down over him smiling. Brooke ran out and watched over Hogan as Orton left.

- Michelle McCool won the finals of the Bikini Bull Riding Contest. It came down to McCool and Victoria after previous rides were shown from earlier in the night. McCool lasted for 12 seconds and Victoria lasted for 7 seconds. Victoria freaked out and took McCool's ruler, breaking it over her knee. McCool just smiled into the camera and that is how they finished it.

- John Cena defeated WWE Champion Edge via DQ; Edge retains WWE Championship. The finish saw Cena hit Edge with the FU, but Lita pulled the referee out during the pinfall count. When Cena applied the STFU on Edge in the ring, Lita cornered the referee on the outside and then hit him with a right hand. The referee then rolled back in the ring and called for the bell causing the DQ finish.

After the match, Edge hits Cena with a Spear and then rolls out to celebrate with the WWE Championship along with Lita. Cena then leaps over the top rope and takes out Edge. Lita runs away. Cena clears off the ECW announce table and decks Edge with one of the TV monitors. Cena then puts Edge up on his shoulders, climbs up the steel steps a few feet away from the announce table, lunges forward and throws Edge onto the table as he crashes through it. The show goes off the air with Cena doing the military salute to the camera...

I will try to just note the stuff you may have missed on TV. If you saw the show on TV then you won't need me to explain things you saw yourself.

Booker T walked past us while waiting to get inside the arena. He was in a security shirt and shorts. The fans cheered him but everyone left him alone to get in the building. I found it kind of funny no one rushed him, but I got a great snap shot of him.

Rene Dupree vs. Paul London
Once settled inside ECW Announcer Justin Roberts came down to the ring and opened the show with a dark match. Rene Dupree came out first with longer hair. He looks to have shrunken down in size. The mustache is gone. His long hair was really throwing me off for some reason. Crowd remembered him well enough. His opponent was Paul London who got a nice ovation. He is a native Texan here. London delivered a nice looking top rope plancha dive to Dupree. Paul London won with a roll up. Dupree was mad so he decided to do his dance for all in attendance about four times after London had headed back up the ramp. Brian Kendrick was not with London tonight.

Kevin Von Erich came out after being introduced and waved to all the fans in attendance. Half the crowd didn't know who he was which is very sad in my eyes. But for the sake of Kevin most of the fans tonight were very young kids from what I could tell. They aired this segment later in the show.

After this the announcers came down. JBL did his typical thing to get some Heat. For the most part the crowd cheered all the announcers.

We were all a little shocked Hulk Hogan and his daughter Brooke were right off the top of Saturday Night's Main Event. Big cheers for Hogan and many catcalls were made towards the lovely Brooke Hogan. Should be noted if Hulk wasn't cheered as loudly when exiting it was because Orton hung around the ring area. We were all looking for the RKO at this time so the fans really were not paying attention to Hulkster. After Hogan left the ramp area minutes later Hogan's titantron was played, his red and yellow lights came on, and everything else for him including fireworks went off. His music was not on though. I think this was a mess up but I am not sure. It of course did not air.

WWE played a package for the Managers DVD they currently have out. All the lights were turned down during this and this is when they snuck Little Bastard under the ring. He is Fit Finaly's little manager friend. No one noticed them putting him under there. My friend had to point it out even to me. You all obviously saw the next match but I have a note or two.

Finlay, Henry, and Booker T vs. Batista, Lashley and Rey Mysterio
Batista is big time over! He received the loudest pops of the night no doubt about it. My only note during this match is all of a sudden Mark Henry was outside beating on Rey Mysterio and next thing we noticed was him hiding under the ECW announcers table. He seemed hurt really badly. After the match the Degeneration X skit aired with them making fun of Spirit Squad. WWE turned down the lights completly and what you probably did not see was referees, trainers, doctors, Booker T, Fit Finlay, William Regal and even Sharmell all helping Mark Henry walk to the back. I'm sure others helped him back to that I didn't mention. It took him a really long time to get up and to the back. Even Batista and Rey Mysterio stuck around to see if he was okay.
WWE Unlimited skit was next with trivia questions. Then they showed a diva package about them competing earlier in the day to see who would make it to the finals for the bull riding thing. Should be noted this all happened when no one was in the arena. I am still not sure if they made it seem that way since it was taped but for the record the live crowd wasn't invited. False advertisement in my eyes. The only diva's we saw in the competition were Michelle McCool and Victoria. More on that later.

Melina and Nitro vs. Trish and Carlito
I still have not personally seen the show that aired on TV. But this match was all of maybe three minutes. Very short, quick match with the typical spots from Carlito. Carlito and Trish Stratus won very quickly. This match seemed like it was rushed for some reason. Again I still have not seen how it all ended up on television.

For anyone who actually cares about something this small the DX pyro took out the little light above the sign in the word "Night" on the Titan Tron. Anyone who recorded it could go check that out I guess but it's really not that cool.

Degeneration X vs. Spirit Squad
Nothing to really note except HHH and Johnny Jeter did the same kung fu dancing skit they have done on house shows a few times. They also did the megaphone over onc of the Spirit Squad's head spot too. This may have been during a commercial break. Anyway it's been practiced on house shows for a few weeks as I watched it on a video website just yesterday and now tonight it was DeJa Vu. After they won and went to commercial again HHH showed his butt to the audience. Boltcutters were brought down to cut Vince and crew out of the cage. This can be viewed on the WWE Unlimited clips.

Mats were rolled out for the Undertaker's entrance during the break. His smoke rising entrance has to have these mats for some reason. After Khali and Big Show walked away from the ring the camera man tapped the mat to let Undertaker know his shot was ready for him to do the typical rise up from the mat.

Steven Richards vs. Sabu
Steven Richards came out next. Poor Richards is such a good worker but it seems only my friends and I remember him. At least that's what his fan reaction sounded like. He still uses the old Kronik music. Then they come back from commercial and interview the Big Show. Richards waited about five minutes in the ring from the time he came out and during the interview. Finally Sabu came out. I really want to support ECW but the crowd was dead and for the first time not one ECW chant was heard. I don't know how it looked on TV but Sabu really seemed to blow the whole table spot. I found it funny the ECW announcers had to stay out there all that time to call one of the shortest matches of the night which ended up becoming a DUD because of Sabu not looking like he cared a whole lot. He kind of won the match and left real quick.

They aired the Brooke Hogan video next. Crowd started to boo which I found pretty funny since they had just cheered for her so loudly earlier. Then they shot the RKO on Hulk Hogan spot backstage. After this the big camera shot the crowd with a pan and put up the ECW Extreme Rules graphic. They didn't do it earlier so I guess since it was taped they shot this quick four seconds to air before the Sabu match later on television.

Bullriding Contest
This contest must have been legit because the finalist were Michelle McCool and Victoria. Crowd was dead for McCool and hardly anyone knew who she was. Victoria didn't really receive any kind of reaction. The rest you saw on TV. Big waste of time. I am not the biggest fan of the divas but if the other girls are advertised the live crowd may want to see them. That's my theory at least. I was really excited to see Mickie James and we only got to see her on a big screen. DUD.

Maria did her kiss camera again. You can see that on WWE Unlimited if you want.

John Cena vs. Edge
The internet reports are true. Cena has a lot of fans. Problem is most of them are children and women. I cheered no one because I wanted to see exactly why people boo this guy. Then all the guys my age and up started to drown out the cheers with booing. I personally like John Cena. Unfortunately until he finds a way to get over with the male age demographic from 18 - 34 he may be booed for a long time. Cena had about 60 percent cheers and 40 percent boos. Edge was overwhelmingly booed I would say. You saw the rest on television but I must say the table spot live was phenomenal. After they went off the air Cena threw his armbands to some chain gang fans. Edge was announced champion again so the crowd would boo him when we all wanted to clap as he got up off the ground from the huge table spot.

SPECIAL Bonus Match - The Great Khali and Umaga vs. The Undertaker in a Handicap match
This was announced earlier to all of us in the evening. Umaga was by himself without his manager. I noted it was an odd pairing and choice to my friend. My friend then figured Mark Henry was most likely suppose to be with Khali but was injured as that was the house show card for Houston tomorrow. Wish I could tell you more about this match exept that is was horrible. Khali is seriously one of the worst wrestlers I have ever seen live. In this match he could not even get himself tied into the ropes correctly. The crowd started to leave during this match. Undertaker did do his old school rope walk spot. The only really interesting thing to note about this match was Undertaker cleanly defeated Umaga with a pinfall. Umaga has officially been pinned. You heard it here first.
