October 27, 2006 - For six consecutive years IGN and THQ have teamed up to bring our readers an ongoing exclusive look at the superstars of the WWE, and this season is no exception. Famous the world over, our "SmackDown Countdown" chronicles each wrestler, diva, and legend that will appear in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007, and comes complete with never-before-seen screenshots and direct-feed movies of every last one of them. Every day for the next nine weeks, we'll profile more than 60 different personalities (including two each on Mondays and Fridays as a special homage to Raw and SmackDown fans), and for the first time ever, will cover two different platforms with images and video from both the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 versions. Hot stuff? You bet.
But enough with the formalities it's time to throw down with today's Countdown superstar, The Undertaker!
HEIGHT:

305 lbs
HOMETOWN:
Death Valley, CA
The Deadman has overcome every challenge he's faced in his WWE career en route to becoming one of the the greatest Superstars in WWE history. From the moment his signature gong fills the air, WWE fans are captivated by Undertaker's mere presence. The Deadman from Death Valley is usually a man of few words, but can often intimidate even the toughest WWE Superstars with one glance. His somber persona has been a terrifying trademark of WWE for over 15 years, and no list of WWE all-time greats can be considered complete without Undertaker.
Ted DiBiase introduced him as part of his "Million-Dollar Team" at the 1990 Survivor Series in Hartford, Connecticut. His dark and somber persona and often sadistic mind set have been his terrifying trademarks. He has taken on WWE legends, WWE Champions and even the WWE owner. How dominant has Undertaker been? Look no further than his record at WrestleMania, where he is a perfect 14-0.
Undertaker won his first WWE Championship on the one-year anniversary of his debut, defeating Hulk Hogan for the WWE Championship at Survivor Series. At that point, Undertaker was undefeated in his career. Undertaker would eventually lose the WWE Championship back to Hogan, in a controversial match a week later at Tuesday in Texas. Still, despite the loss, Undertaker put together quite an impressive won-loss record. At WrestleMania alone, Taker has defeated Jimmy Snuka, King Kong Bundy, Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Giant Gonzales, Triple H, Ric Flair, Kane and Diesel among others.
In between the championship reigns, Undertaker has been a WWE mainstay. He's battled all the greats -- from Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior to Yokozuna, Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock, proving to be a bridge from yesteryear's WWE to today. Who else could kidnap Stephanie McMahon, Tombstone Linda McMahon, attack Shane McMahon and walk out on Vince McMahon and still be thriving years later? The Undertaker has also been at the forefront of some of the most original matches and concepts in WWE history. He is the innovator of Inferno Matches, Casket Matches, and, of course, the famed Hell in the Cell. In fact, Undertaker was Mankind's opponent in their renowned Hell in a Cell Match at King of the Ring in 1998, where Undertaker threw Mankind from the top of the demonic structure.
Undertaker is also one-half of one of the most historic rivalries in sports-entertainment. For close to a decade, Undertaker and his half-brother Kane have been trying to destroy each other, highlighted by two memorable WrestleMania matches, both won by Undertaker of course. Undertaker has spent time with both RAW and SmackDown!, but he is currently terrorizing the SmackDown! roster on Thursday nights. Amazingly, the Deadman hasn't lost a step.
