October 27, 2006 - For six consecutive years IGN and THQ have teamed up to bring our readers an ongoing exclusive look at the superstars of the WWE, and this season is no exception. Famous the world over, our "SmackDown Countdown" chronicles each wrestler, diva, and legend that will appear in WWE SmackDown vs. Raw 2007, and comes complete with never-before-seen screenshots and direct-feed movies of every last one of them. Every day for the next nine weeks, we'll profile more than 60 different personalities (including two each on Mondays and Fridays as a special homage to Raw and SmackDown fans), and for the first time ever, will cover two different platforms with images and video from both the PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 versions. Hot stuff? You bet.
But enough with the formalities it's time to throw down with today's Countdown superstar, The Great Khali!
HEIGHT:
7'3"
WEIGHT:
420 lbs
HOMETOWN:
India
Brought into the WWE by Daivari, The Great Khali's intimidating frame has caught the attention of everyone. Hailing from India, The Great Khali stands at an impressive 7 foot 3 and weighs 420 pounds. The Great Khali has walked the jungles of India unafraid of pythons and wrestled White Bengal tigers. Daivari claims that The Great Khali has "stared into the abyss and the earth trembled at his gaze." One of the largest athletes the WWE has ever bared witness to; The Great Khali stands to be a powerful force and a threat to every member of the SmackDown locker room.
Some examples of his dominance: In a May edition of SmackDown, as JBL's hand-picked opponent, The Great Khali defeated World Champion Rey Mysterio with ease in a non-title match. At Judgment Day, The Great Khali shocked the world by defeating Undertaker with ease and sending the WWE legends future into question. At Saturday Night's Main Event in July, The Great Khali and ECW's Big Show sent Khali's enemy, Undertaker, through the announce table with a double-chokeslam. Days later, the two monsters repeated this attack at ECW on Sci Fi at the conclusion of a match between Big Show and the Phenom.
The Great Khali and Daivari were responsible for bringing the most barbaric match in WWE history to The Great American Bash: the Punjabi Prison Match. Khali was slated to battle Undertaker in this contest until SmackDown GM Theodore Long replaced Khali with Big Show, following a backstage ambush by the two giants on the Deadman.
